Siglinde Van Ransbeeck.
Ever since I was a child, I have always loved to paint and draw.
My training at the St. Lucas Art Academy in Brussels was a natural extension of this attraction for visual expression.
The deep interest in material, colour and form led me to develop various forms of expression, such as watercolour, oil painting, pen drawing, collage, calligraphy, glass art, glass casting and glass blowing, and églomisé, which is an ancient technique of painting on the back of a glass surface.
I learned this ancient technique from the artist Frances Federer-Bennington, whose works are part of the permanent collection of the Corning Glass Museum in New York and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, where she is also in charge for restoration.
Based on this knowhow, I have followed my own creative path and regularly participate at exhibitions and other art events.

Eglomisé...
or Backglass painting
The term "behind-glass painting" is used for a painting made on glass at the back, where the intention is to see the work through the glass. The sequence of work differs from 'ordinary' painting.

Ink...
Drawing was a natural thing to do since my childhood. My schoolbooks were full of drawings. It was ’automatic drawing’ of images from my imagination.

[…]
Oil...
I came into contact with oil paint when a painter and family friend saw me drawing and wondered why I didn't try oil paint.

Sketches...
Work often made outside and usually in a short time. It makes me happy and grateful.

Mixed Media...
For these works, I use different techniques and materials: ink with watercolour, but also pencil, acrylic paint and pastels are used in combination.
